RNAQ and Ga Mantse Foundation Launch Scholarship Fund for Ga-Dangme Students
The Richard Nii Armah Quaye (RNAQ) Foundation and the Ga Mantse Foundation have launched a new scholarship fund to support brilliant but financially disadvantaged Ga-Dangme students pursuing tertiary education.
The scholarship initiative was officially launched on September 14, 2026, at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra. It is intended to reduce financial barriers that prevent deserving students from continuing their education and to encourage greater investment in education within the Ga-Dangme community.
Scholarship Focuses on Brilliant and Needy Students
The new fund is specifically aimed at Ga-Dangme students who have demonstrated academic ability but face financial difficulties.
Organisers explained that the initiative is not intended to pay the fees of every Ga-Dangme student. Instead, the focus is on supporting brilliant and needy young people who may struggle to continue their tertiary education because of financial challenges.
The scholarship will initially focus on tertiary education, with the possibility of expanding to other educational needs in the future.http://scholarship opportunities for Ghanaian students
Bringing the Ga-Dangme Community Together
The initiative is also being presented as part of a wider effort to encourage collaboration and collective investment in education.
Emmanuel Lamptey, who leads the RNAQ Foundation, said the idea emerged from engagements with traditional leaders and a shared interest in improving opportunities for young people in the Ga-Dangme community.
He explained that the scholarship was designed as a common platform for development while respecting the individual traditional institutions and stools within the community.
The organisers hope the initiative can become a long-term programme that brings together traditional leaders, professionals, businesses and other members of the community around education.
Education Seen as Key to Community Development
Speaking at the launch, the President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs and Nungua Mantse, Oboade Notse King Professor Odaifio Welentsi III, described education as an important factor in the development of Ga-Dangme communities.
He noted that financial challenges continue to prevent some talented young people from pursuing their educational ambitions.
He therefore encouraged members of the community to support the scholarship fund through donations, mentorship and advocacy.
The traditional leader said supporting talented students could help develop a new generation of professionals and leaders who can contribute to the progress of their communities.
Ga Mantse Calls for Greater Support
The Ga Mantse, King Nii Tackie, who was the guest of honour at the launch, also called on Ga-Dangme people to make education an important part of their development plans.
He expressed appreciation to Richard Nii Armah Quaye for establishing the scholarship fund and encouraged members of the community to support the initiative.
The Ga Mantse also called for greater unity among traditional leaders and community members as they work toward improving opportunities for young people.
Financial Barriers Affect Tertiary Education
The need for the scholarship fund was partly highlighted through engagements with students and university authorities.
Jesse Agyapong, External Consultant for RNAQ Holdings and the RNAQ Foundation, said the foundation became concerned after engagements at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
According to him, the foundation observed that the number of Ga-Dangme students among graduating students was not as high as expected.
Further engagements, he said, indicated that financial difficulties, including challenges with paying fees, were among the factors affecting some students’ ability to progress through tertiary education. (MyJoyOnline)
The scholarship fund is therefore intended to provide targeted support to students who have the academic potential but lack the financial resources needed to continue their studies.
A Long-Term Education Initiative
The RNAQ Foundation says the scholarship should be viewed as more than a one-time educational donation.
The initiative is intended to encourage a culture where successful individuals and organisations contribute to the education of younger members of their communities.
Richard Nii Armah Quaye said the decision to establish the initiative followed encouragement from several Ga-Dangme traditional leaders.
He also called on members of the community to contribute their skills, resources and expertise to help create more opportunities for young people.
Scholarship Starts With Tertiary Education
The initial focus of the programme is tertiary education.
This means the fund is aimed at students who have progressed beyond basic and secondary education but may face financial difficulties at the university or other tertiary level.
Organisers indicated that the initiative could eventually be expanded to address other educational needs within the Ga-Dangme community.
For now, interested students should look out for official information from the RNAQ Foundation and the Ga Mantse Foundation regarding eligibility, application procedures and selection arrangements.
Encouraging Community Investment in Education
The launch adds another community-based scholarship initiative to the range of educational support programmes available to students in Ghana.
Scholarships can help reduce the financial pressure associated with tertiary education and allow students to concentrate more fully on their studies.
For the Ga-Dangme community, the new fund is also intended to encourage individuals and institutions to take a more active role in supporting young people.
The organisers believe that investing in education can help create a stronger pipeline of professionals, innovators and future leaders.http://UESD and Maleka Farms Aquaculture
What Students Should Know
Students interested in the new scholarship should rely on official announcements from the organisations involved when applications and selection details are released.
Applicants should carefully check the eligibility requirements and application deadlines once they are announced.
They should also be cautious about unofficial individuals who claim to guarantee scholarship awards in exchange for payments.
The scholarship fund is currently focused on brilliant and financially disadvantaged Ga-Dangme students pursuing tertiary education.
Looking Ahead
The RNAQ Foundation and Ga Mantse Foundation hope the initiative will develop into a lasting educational support programme for young people.
The launch brought together traditional leaders, foundation representatives, community members and other stakeholders, reflecting the organisers’ intention to make education a shared community responsibility.
As the scholarship programme develops, its focus will remain on helping deserving students overcome financial barriers to tertiary education while encouraging the wider Ga-Dangme community to contribute to the development of young people.
For eligible students, the initiative could provide an additional opportunity to pursue tertiary education despite financial challenges.
